artsACT is the ACT Government’s arts agency. In May 2011, artsACT became part of the Community Services Directorate as part of a whole-of-government restructure, consistent with recommendations from the Hawke Review of the ACT Government structure.
Ms Burch became Minister for the Arts in May following the retirement of Chief Minister Jon Stanhope, and since then Ms Burch has overseen an exciting period of transition and reform for artsACT.
In September 2011 the Government released its response to the Loxton Review into the arts sector in the ACT. The Government has agreed to explore the establishment of three arts hubs in Canberra, to establish an artist-in-residence program, and streamline the arts grants system to improve accessibility to government funds for emerging artists.
